Join this NET webinar to learn how three different Extension programs are working to prepare communities for disaster in a world of increasing threats. We’ll discuss how these programs integrate important components of tourism and placemaking into their work. Speakers include:
- Melissa Bond, University of Kentucky: The Community Arts Program and how they support rural communities and artists to prepare and preserve important components of local heritage and culture.
- Natalie Chin, Wisconsin Sea Grant: The Enduring Lake Superior Communities Program invites local leaders to work on a year-long resilience-focused project with the goal of helping communities remain strong and adaptable in the face of emerging environmental realities.
- Ann Savage, NC State Extension: The Destination Ready and Tourism Disaster Resilience Toolbox are designed to provide tools for destination leaders both to prepare before and support response after a crisis or disaster happens.
- Lisa Chase from University of Vermont Extension will facilitate the webinar.
