Summary: As with much of the country, the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted coastal Georgia’s tourism industry. Unable to host its planned 2020 Coastal Georgia Tourism Conference, UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant responded by organizing a series of online facilitated discussions focused on three of the state’s five tourism pillars: Outdoor Recreation and Sports, Georgia Grown Food and Drink, and African American Heritage and Culture to allow for continued planning for sustainable tourism efforts in the region.
During this presentation, Bryan Fluech discussed how Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant adapted its programming to serve its tourism community in spite of the pandemic, and how they are using the discussion series as a planning tool for future tourism programming efforts.
