Can virtual meetings replace in-person gatherings? This month’s webinar will feature the work of an interdisciplinary team of researchers from the University of Vermont and Clemson University, who utilized team science methods to understand how to enhance global collaboration within the agritourism sector. The project included a series of 20 webinars and an international conference, reaching over 3200 agritourism operators, extension professionals, researchers, and others working in agritourism from 85 countries. They examined whether an in-person experience made any difference in the reported outcomes and benefits of agritourism programming. The findings may surprise you. Spoiler alert: videoconferences are effective for sharing knowledge but keep your suitcase handy for times when networking and building community are important.
