Mary Mulvey is a native of Dunboyne, County Meath and a graduate of St. Patrick’s College Maynooth. She also has a B.A. Post Graduate diploma in Irish Heritage Management from University College Cork and a Post Graduate certificate in Ecotourism from Sligo Institute of Technology. Mary has over 15 years of senior management experience ranging from project to event management. She developed the Cashel Heritage Town Programme and the Tipperary Heritage Way long distance walk from The Vee to Cashel. She was a founding member of Cashel Cultural Festival and director for 10 years. Previous employment includes the English Tourist Board, Bord Failte, Heritage Towns of Ireland and Irish Peatland Conservation Council. She also held the role of Operations Manager for the Irish Museum of Modern Art/Royal Hospital Kilmainhaim. Mary has also served on many national and regional committees for organizations such as Irish Tourist Industry Confederation and the Model Arts and Niland Modern Art Gallery, Sligo. Mary is passionate about raising the profile of ecotourism at the national and international level with relevant government agencies, tourism bodies and stakeholders to ensure that ecotourism is on Ireland’s tourism agenda and ensuring a credible policy is developed and promoted. She was  responsible for the  development of a world class certification process for ecotourism products in Ireland. The Ecotourism Ireland label was globally recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council in Jan 2012. Mary currently serves in a voluntary capacity on the board of The Glens Theatre, Manorhamilton, County Leitrim.
